Show Notes and Links!
You might have heard Kate mention ‘paelochannels’ in the podcast. A paleochannel is an old or ancient channel from a river or stream which has now filled up with sediment and is preserved as an archaeological feature. These can contain environmental material that archaeologists can use to understand what changes have occurred in the environment over time.
Kate also mentioned a project where we have ‘salterns’. A saltern is a feature used in salt-making, where saltwater has undergone the process of evaporation to extract the sodium chloride crystals.
Annie spoke in the podcast about her love for drying ovens! We’ve included a link here so you can explore an example of a Roman Corn Drying Oven that was found on a site in 1975 and physically moved to the Hertford Museum! Check out what its all about here: https://www.hertfordmuseum.org/roman-corn-dryer
